Jeffrey M. Busick joined McCarthy Strategic Solutions in 2013 with more than a decade of experience. As a lobbyist and partner with McCarthy Strategic Solutions, he advocates for various client issues including education, taxes, budget and energy.

After graduating law school in May 2004, Jeff was hired to serve as Deputy General Counsel to the Kentucky Senate President and Republican members of the Senate Majority Caucus. Throughout his entire service in the Senate, Busick was assigned as the principal staffer to the Chairman of the Senate Appropriations and Revenue Committee, where he was instrumental in the development and passage of every executive, legislative, judicial, and transportation budget bills. As one of the main policy staffers for the Senate Majority, he played an important role in the passage of several key pieces of legislation: the 2005 Tax Modernization Bill, changes to Kentucky’s Tax Incremental Financing (TIF) laws, the overhaul of Kentucky’s economic development incentives packages, pension reform efforts, and various education related reforms.

In January 2012, Busick joined the law firm Jackson Kelly PLLC, and worked out of the firm’s Lexington, Kentucky office.  He was a member of the firm’s Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs Practice Group and participated in the Higher Education Industry Practice Group.  As a practicing litigator, Busick represented several equine, health-care, coal, and other corporate/business entity clients. He also assisted clients in drafting legislation and advised clients on the impact of several legislative and regulatory matters.

Busick graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a B.B.A in Management Information Systems and a B.A. in Government. He holds his law degree from Northern Kentucky University’s Salmon P. Chase College of Law and is an active member of the Kentucky Bar Association.  Busick resides in Louisville.
