Lora Hawkins

Lora Hawkins joined the McCarthy team at the beginning of 2016, bringing with her 28 years of state government and legislative experience. She has served in several capacities within the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Kentucky Attorney General’s Office, Kentucky Labor Cabinet, Council on Postsecondary Education, and the Kentucky General Assembly.

Lora began her work with the Kentucky Legislature in 1997 as a staff member for the Education Committee. She then joined the House Speaker Pro Tempore’s office in 2001 as leadership staff, providing support on countless legislative projects. Her work included requesting bill drafts, tracking legislation, constituent services, redistricting in both 2002 and 2013, and managing committee assignments for leaders. She was also responsible for assisting legislative members with the state transportation budget, constituent services and the legislative process. Lora completed her legislative work with the Majority Whip office as Director of Legislative and Constituent Services at the end of 2015, where she managed the office, assisted legislators with requests, managed constituent services and was responsible for a variety of legislative projects.

Lora is an integral member of the team who for the last eight years provided administrative support, assisted with scheduling, and handled ethics compliance for the firm. As of January 2024, Lora will only handle ethics compliance.

Lora currently resides in Shelby County with her husband, Tim. They have three grown children and many grandchildren.
