Administrative Assistant

Shellee Hayden joined McCarthy Strategic Solutions in January 2024 with 6 years of state government and legislative support experience. As an experienced administrative assistant, she has held a variety of positions that honed her skills of multitasking and being a resourceful liaison for legislators and co-workers.

In 2015, Shellee began her professional career working for the Department of Juvenile Justice where she led various youth programs to enhance their experiences while incarcerated. In her first year, Shellee was nominated for new employee of the year. After two and a half years, she became a permitting consultant and shift manager for the private sector, coordinating with clients and state agencies to provide customer service, delivery of permits, and time sensitive ordering.

Shellee has also worked with the Franklin County School System alternative schooling as a behavioral support and classroom maintenance assistant, and she received the honor of classified employee in the 2019-2020 academic year. In 2020, Shellee enrolled in an intensive paralegal course through the Center for Legal Studies where she gained a completed certification under Texas Christian University sponsorship. This course helped to steer her in the direction of advocacy and the Legislative Research Commission.

With the Commission, she worked on the Senate Floor as a nonpartisan Legislative Assistant and was then hired in the House Minority Leadership office. She expanded her role of Assistant and Policy Advisor to help the entire Democratic Caucus by scheduling, coordinating correspondences, offering constituent services, and designing infographics for the House Democrats’ social media. Shellee also covered the Economic Development and Workforce Investment Committee along with the Tourism and Outdoor Recreation Committee.

Shellee serves as the President of the Franklin County Young Democrats and holds a seat on the Franklin County Democratic Party Executive Committee.
