Kenny Bishop

Kenny Bishop has enjoyed a long career in public service at both the state and local levels. He served as Executive Director of the Kentucky Governor’s Mansion for Governor Ernie Fletcher, Director of Special Services at the Legislative Research Commission, Deputy Communications Director and Council Liaison for Lexington Mayor Jim Gray, Acting Legislative Director for Governor Andy Beshear, and, most recently, as Legislative Director at the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, where he managed several significant pieces of legislation. He served as a top campaign aide to Congressman Ernie Fletcher during his 2003 gubernatorial campaign and as deputy campaign manager for Jim Gray’s 2016 U.S. Senate campaign.

Before his career in government, Kenny was a professional singer/songwriter and is a successful event producer. He studied Christian Theology and Pastoral Care at Lee College and Seminary in Cleveland, TN, and is a lay pastor at Bluegrass United Church of Christ in Lexington. 

Kenny currently serves on the Kentucky Historic Properties Advisory Commission, appointed by Governor Andy Beshear. He’s the proud father of two and grandfather of four. He and his husband, Mason, live in a historic neighborhood on Lexington’s west side.
